Portrait of Mary Lou Williams
An acrylic painting on board I did for Black History month based on influential people . Mary Lou Williams was just that. She was a jazz pianist who performed with and composed for many of the great jazz artists of the 1940s and ’50s. She wrote, mentored, and even taught legendary jazz greats Benny Goodman, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and many others too.
